Position Profile

The Automation Systems Engineer will be involved in all aspects of hardware/software design and implementation on Honeywell platform.
This position is intended for a resident of Fort McMurray only.

Position Accountabilities

Provide leadership to gas/refinery process control, automation and integration of control and automation by the designs

Apply engineering principles and practices in the design of process control systems, specifically PLC and DCS

Developing work packages, drawings, as-built and redline of existing drawings

Prepare Functional Requirements, Detail Design Specifications, and Software Test Plans

Software Design and programming and configuration of various control system platforms
Participate in P&ID and HAZOP, and other design reviews 

Assist in the design and modifications of new and existing process control and instrumentation systems

Understand business needs, risks, and organizational dynamics as well as their implications based on developing alternate plans and choices

Identify and support cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives

Candidate Profile

  • B.Sc. in Electrical, Computer, or Chemical Engineering (CPC), or relevant Engineering Technologist Diploma
  • 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in large industrial automation environments, including Oil & Gas and refineries
  • P.Eng. or P.Eng. eligible
  • Experience with system maintenance/troubleshooting for Honeywell TPS (TDC3000) and Honeywell Experion systems
  • Experience with backups, windows patching and monitoring of Honeywell TPS (TDC3000) or Honeywell Experion systems
  • Experience performing loop checks on Honeywell TPS (TDC3000) or Honeywell Experion systems
  • Troubleshooting productivity tools and other equipment is an asset. (WinAAA, thin clients, Amulet HotKey KVM’s, etc)
  • Strong technical/computer background, networking background is an asset
  • Exceptional communication skills and customer service practices
  • Successfully manage multiple priorities and assignments
  • Work independently and within a team environment
  • Willingness to travel; valid Class 5 driver license required
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
  • Canadian Citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident
