Reporting to the Engineering and Technology Manager, the Lead Electrical Engineer will be involved in leadership and technical oversight activities associated with industrial control systems, and low to medium voltage power distribution design.
Lead and provide technical direction in the design of electrical power distribution systems in petrochemical, oil & gas, chemical, or oil sands facilities. Plant systems include Low to Medium voltage systems, switching equipment, transformers and protection/control, as well as motor control, plant lighting, and grounding.
Lead and provide technical direction in the design drawings for construction of the physical components of systems including, but not limited to the following:
Prepare engineering, construction and equipment cost estimates for the systems listed above.
Prepare technical reports and Client correspondences/presentations.
Review and prepare detailed specifications and contract documents for procurement of major electrical equipment as well as construction document packages.
Assist in the preparation of the technical portions of Procurement documents (RFQs, POs), and review equipment tenders and vendor documents.
Assist in the coordination of project activities.
Visits to project sites and other design offices for project related activities as required, including commissioning and startup support. (Assume up to 30% travel required.)
Project Leader and supervision of Engineers, Technologists, and Technical Staff.
Project budget responsibilities.
Area Classification studies including fugitive emissions calculations.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to junior & intermediate engineers, technologists and designers.
