Position Profile

The Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for full cycle accounting including G/L reconciliations, government remittance reporting, A/P, Payroll, and preparation of financial reporting.

Position Accountabilities

  • Manage daily Accounts Payable entries and perform weekly cheque runs
  • Weekly review of staff time entries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company and government policies
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Audit staff expenses for accuracy and completeness
  • Perform month end Accounts Payable close and Payroll Reconciliation
  • Assist in preparation of monthly draft financial statements for the company including branch and departmental reporting
  • Maintain Prepaid and Deposits sub-ledger
  • Ensures timely remittance and related reporting for government and other statutory payments
  • Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations, and prepare working papers
  • Assist with yearly audits
  • Ad-hoc duties

Candidate Profile

  • 3 – 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • CPA designation or near completion
  • Previous experience in a Public Practice environment is an asset
  • Experience with Payroll, T4s, and benefits
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent time management skills
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to meet deadlines under a high stressed environment, with attention to detail and focus on quality of work
